The Community Empowerment and Development Initiative (CEDI) delivers community-driven programmes that respond to the real, interconnected challenges facing vulnerable populations in Sierra Leone. Our work spans livelihoods, education, health, gender equality, environmental resilience, and evidence-based advocacy – because lasting change is never achieved through a single intervention.
We work alongside communities, government institutions, local authorities, civil society, and development partners to design and implement programmes that are practical, inclusive, sustainable, and locally owned.
Community Empowerment & Livelihoods
We support vulnerable households and communities to build economic resilience through entrepreneurship, vocational training, savings groups, agricultural development, and market linkages - with a strong focus on women's economic empowerment.
Education & Youth Development
We promote access to quality education, mentorship, and opportunities for young people to lead, learn, and earn - unlocking their full potential as agents of change in their communities.
Health, Nutrition & Wellbeing
We promote healthy communities through education, outreach, and linkages that improve knowledge, prevent disease, and support physical and psychosocial wellbeing.
Gender Equality & Protection
We promote safe, inclusive communities where the rights and dignity of women, girls, and children are protected - and where gender-based violence is prevented, not tolerated.
Environment, Climate Change & Disaster Resilience
We promote environmental sustainability and community resilience against climate shocks, helping communities protect the natural resources their livelihoods depend on.
Research, Advocacy & Policy Engagement
We generate and use evidence to influence development practice, strengthen policy, and ensure that community voices shape the decisions that affect their lives.
